In the left panel mark the layer, which you want to work with.
Click on the icon "Toogle Editing".
Click on the icon "Add Feature". (the icon doesn't look the same for points, lines and shapes, but the name is the name)
Now you are able to make drawings with the mouse.
Normally you set up a layer to register either points, lines or shapes.
If the layer is set up to register points, you just set a point. Just click once on the left mouse button.
If the layer is set up to register lines or shapes, you just draw a line or a shape. Start by clicking on the left mouse button, and end by clicking on the right mouse button.
Normally you will register data together with the features. When you have finished drawing, a box will popup. In this box you should enter some data. The box could look something like this:
Enter information into all fields and click "OK".
In our example we are registering a point, and now the point is registered.
We can now see the new point on the map.
When you are finished registering, you can click on "Toogle Editing", and it will turn off.
You are asked, if you want to save the changes/registration you made.
Click on "Save", if you want to save.
You could also save as you register by clicking on the icon "Save Layer Edits".
