it's my pleasure to be taking us on this important often neglected topic. VAGINAL HYGIENE Like all my presentations REMEMBER it's not a lecture but rather n interaction to keep it simple. Feel free to share in d pool of ur knowledge on d discussed topic, n ask questions after. Thank u. Let's roll.
A healthy private part is naturally acidic containing very rich quantities of beneficial bacteria ( the GUARDIANS). They help to fend up infections from bad micro organisms, at d same time maintaining normal pH. A healthy private part will also secretes some amount of discharge to keep it clean n moisturized. Like d saliva in our mouths. When this acidic medium is disturbed, there is often over growth of harmful bacteria. A condition that leads to d following terrible conditions. For proper cleaning and hygiene of the private part. U can take note of the following basics.
CLEANING
1. Bathe daily n wash d private folds
2. Clean with water after urination, and wipe dry to eliminate dampness
3. Make it a habit to wipe from front to back after bowel movement. To reduce d risk of bacteria from anus entering into ur private part
4. Use unscented tissue or wipes to clean d private part
5. Do not point nozzle of handheld shower head into ur private part. As it may spread harmful bacteria into d vagina. There by promoting infection
HYGIENE
1. Bathe regularly
2. Douching can interfere with ur private parts pH. Reducing acidity thereby setting d stage for infection. If u have a strong unpleasant odor from ur private part see ur Dr. douching can only mask the smell but not cure d underlying cause. Also avoid using harsh soaps or cleansers. As they can also affect d pH levels. There by increasing ur risk of infections.
3. Wear loose breathable clothing. Tight pants, shorts made from synthetic fabrics can reduce air circulation around ur private part . N can increase ur chances of odor n infection from sweat. Remember it needs to breath too. Wear loose clothing made from fabrics like cotton
4. Remove wet sweaty bottom. Take a shower n wear fresh clean clothing after every strenuous activity like exercise. This will ensure ur private to be free of dampness
5. Menstruation: change sanitary napkins, pantyliners frequently. Use products that do not contain scents or dye. To avoid harmful effects of the chemicals used in their production.
6. Menopause increase risk of infection, at this stage is due to changing estrogen levels n its effects on d reproductive organs. Which causes thinning and dryness of d vagina. Delicate private part walls are prone to tear n cracks raising d infection risks. Causing d feeling of burning sensations during intercourse. Use lubricants but avoid petroleum jelly when using condom, as it can cause d condom to crack.
7. Wash ur private part after intercourse. Residues from intimate products can cause irritation followed by increase chances of infection, if not removed from d region
8. Eat a balanced healthy diet containing fruits, water, whole grains for healthy vaginal tissue and optimum secretions. Berries and yoghurt can potentially prevent yeast infection. If u experience dryness try soy products which can aid lubrication. From its weak form of estrogen content.
9. Hydration drink plenty fluids preferably clean water. And never hold d urge to urinate.

11. Do routine periodic cervical cancer screenings to promote healthy living
